Connecting Heritage with Modern Community Space. Contemporary Extension within a Heritage Setting

Project Overview

Claremont delivered a new extension to the historic St Botolph without Aldgate Church, replacing the former Aldgate Rooms with a contemporary community building that complements its historic surroundings. The development created a welcoming community hall, café and first-floor office accommodation, providing flexible spaces that support both the church and the wider local community.

Designed within a sensitive city centre location adjacent to a historic place of worship, the project demonstrates Claremont’s ability to integrate modern construction with existing heritage assets while creating practical, high-quality community facilities.

Performance, Not Promises

Working alongside historic buildings requires careful planning, technical expertise and a sensitive approach to construction. Through collaborative working and meticulous attention to detail, Claremont successfully delivered a contemporary extension that respects its surroundings whilst meeting the needs of a modern community.

The project demonstrates our ability to create high-quality community spaces within sensitive heritage environments, balancing architectural integrity with long-term functionality.
